Giant Mountain | 4,627ft

On a beautiful fall day in the midst of peak leaf season, the "Giant of the Valley" stood as an imposing figure above Keene Valley beckoning us to climb it, so climb it we did!  Giant Mountain is the twelfth highest peak in the Adirondacks and it features some prominent rock slides on it's steep western face. The summit can be reached from a number of different routes; the two most common being either the trailhead near Chapel Pond or the trailhead near Roaring Brook Falls.  The hike to the summit offers both some great vistas along the way and great variety in terms of the types of terrain that you will encounter.  Some scrambling always makes a hike interesting!  Views from the summit are incredible, offering a panorama of mountains that includes the Great Range, Whiteface, Easter and the Dix range.  The fall foliage in the valley was an added bonus - a sight that was not taken for granted.

A gradual hike up to an open summit, Goodman Mountain is a nice, gradual hike for families and dogs, or those looking to get in a moderate hike with a good view from the top. While the view is well worth the trip up, the trail up Goodman is also beautiful, weaving through hardwood forests and opening up to a couple of vistas along the way.
