Adirondack Wine & Food Festival 2016
Satisfy your taste buds by experiencing goods from some of the best wineries, distilleries, breweries, artisanal food vendors, and food trucks that the Adirondack region and New York State has to offer. Following a fantastic first showing last June, this year’s Adirondack Wine and Food Festival will feature even more vendors and local artisans. Currently, 63 total vendors have committed to the event, including 21 wineries, 20 food vendors, 4 breweries, 2 cideries, 5 distilleries, 4 food trucks, SUNY ADK and Hothouse Restaurant. From the Adirondack Winery’s “Break by the Lake” best selling Pinot Gris and Adirondack Brewery’s Beaver Tail Brown Ale to garlic fresh from the farm and maple syrup from locally tapped trees, there is bound to be something that will suit your tastes!
The perfect excuse for a weekend getaway to a gorgeous lake, the 2nd Annual Wine & Food Festival will take place on June 25th and 26th in the Lake George village. Hosted by the Adirondack Winery and sponsored in conjunction with Taste NY, admission to the festival ($35 at the gate and $25 pre-sale) includes a commemorative wine glass that also conveniently acts as your tasting glass throughout the event. Held at the newly completed Charles R. Wood Festival Commons on Westbrook Road, the festival is complete with a perfect lake backdrop and is within walking distance of many Lake George attractions.
In its inaugural year, the 2015 rain or shine farmer’s market-style festival hosted over 2,500 people, even with rain showers hitting the event. Vendors present at the festival hold the “try before you buy” philosophy common to farmer’s markets, that allow visitors to test out a product before making a purchase. This year, there will be even more food options (including four food trucks!), that will ensure your appetite is satisfied so that you can fit in as many beverage tastings as possible. Having gained valuable experience from the first year, and with the addition of many new vendors, the flow and atmosphere of the event is expected to be even better this time around!
Another cool part about the festival - it partners with the SUNY Adirondack Foundation as its festival beneficiary. This means that a portion of the proceeds from all ticket sales will benefit the nonprofit foundation, which was established in 1983 to help provide financial support to the college and its students through scholarships, development grants, and more. The students and faculty of the SUNY Adirondack Culinary Arts Program are highlights of the Festival; offering cooking demonstrations (the products of those demonstrations are of course shared with the audience!) and showing off their culinary skills.
We hope to see you out there this year. If you see a couple people taking photos and videos of the event, that’s us! Be sure to smile or wave, as you might be in the video recap from this year’s event!
