Moss Lake Loop

Moss Lake Loop - Pure Adirondacks

For a gentle and pleasant walk, the 2.5-mile loop around Moss Lake is a great option conveniently located off Big Moose Road in the Eagle Bay area.  Winding through the Fulton Chain Wild Forest, the trail around the lake is gradual with minor ascents and descents along the way. Additionally, it can also be biked during drier conditions and when there's a nice base of snow during the winter months, it's an excellent loop for skiing & snowshoeing.

At the halfway mark around the lake lies a bridge that has beautiful panoramic views.  We always make a point to take some pictures on the bridge - we’ve been creating a nice little collection of photos from this spot over the years! There are several primitive campsites and a nice beach area on the shore of the lake that can be explored along the way.  There’s an island out in the middle of the lake with a few tall trees that make for a particularly picturesque scene.

Keep it PURE

Remember to Leave No Trace! Buy a physical map, read it, plan, and prepare. Think about the NYS Rangers and medical personnel that exhaust themselves for a rescue that could have been avoided. Pack out your trash. Use a bear canister when primitive camping and cook away from where you’re sleeping. Do the rock walk to help reduce the impact on fragile alpine vegetation. Camp at designated campsites and never camp on or near summits.
