Adirondack Hiking

Nestled within the Vanderwhacker Mountain Wild Forest of the central Adirondacks, Wolf Pond offers hikers a serene and moderately challenging experience. This 4.8-mile round-trip trail, with an elevation gain of approximately 450 feet, leads adventurers through diverse terrains to a tranquil 59-acre pond with picturesque views of the High Peaks.

Definitely one of the best-named mountains in the ‘dacks, Vanderwhacker is said to be named after one of the early settlers of the area. With an open fire tower and a strenuous but quick climb, it is a perfect summer hike if you are looking to avoid the chaos of some of the busier peaks closer to Keene and Lake Placid.
