Scarface Mountain
Less popular than the other Saranac 6ers, Scarface is a quiet hike that is nice to explore on days when you’re looking for some solitude. The view may not be quite as stunning as from some of the others, but there are still a handful of nice viewpoints close to the top, and the trail through a slightly wetland habitat provides unique scenery in the earlier parts of the hike.

Baker Mountain
One of the best peaks in the ‘dacks for new climbers (young and old alike), Baker Mountain is a nice moderate hike with one of the nicest views for such a quick ascent. The trail conveniently starts right in the village of Saranac Lake and itself is quite short-- perfect for a quick solo morning hike or a leisurely lunchtime hike with the whole family.

Ampersand Mountain
Ampersand Mountain has a moderately strenuous trail to the summit, but it’s well worth it for the 360-degree view that awaits you at the top. Because the mountain sits apart from others of a similar elevation, it has a wide-sweeping view of the Saranac Lakes, the St. Regis Ponds, and the High Peaks off in the distance.
