The hike up Azure Mountain is fairly quick and occasionally steep to the top, but a perfect hike for families. The summit provides a unique view of the 46ers in the distance and some lower mountains and hidden bodies of water and marshes in the foreground, while the fire tower provides a 360-degree view of less often seen mountains to the other side of the summit.

Mount Arab is a fun, quick hike outside of Tupper Lake. The fire tower is accessible and provides great views of the surrounding lakes. Given its short distance and low elevation gain, the mountain is perfect for families with little kids and dogs.

The tallest mountain in the Lake George area, Black Mountain is a wonderful hike for families if they’re looking for a good medium distance hike to challenge the kids. On the loop, you will pass a picturesque pond and a nearby lean-to that allows for ample nature watching.

A wonderful short to middle distance hike, Hadley Mountain is a perfect climb for any season in the Southern Adirondacks. Given its southerly location, Hadley has a unique and rare view of Sacandaga Lake – visible from both the fire tower and the summit itself.
